Everything we do leaves clues…

Often when we are going through an experience of change, transformation and awakening, it's hard to see the benefit immediately.  Sometimes it can take a day, a month, a year or longer, but at some stage we get to see the gifts and see there were always clues.

I was inspired to write this blog, '7 clues to inspire your path to GREATNESS', as I came across a paper I wrote whilst on my intensive 12-month journey in 2008 studying a program, The Mystic Way.  A combination of many modalities largely focused on Psychotherapy, Jungian philosophy and Archetypal principles.  Or so I thought!  In reality it was to turn me inside out and tip me upside down!  I am beyond grateful for what I experienced for reasons I will share in the following words.

To put this into context I have shared an excerpt of my paper below, which I think you will find somewhat raw and relatable on some level.  Within these words are so many clues leading me to my calling and purpose as I think you will see.

Summary of the 7 clues that follow:

Clue 1 - Don’t take on what ‘the experts’ say as gospel
Clue 2 - Everything we do leads somewhere
Clue 3 - The ego versus the spiritual ego, same driver different costume!
Clue 4 - Without the compass you have no direction
Clue 5 - You get loved up
Clue 6 - Get messy
Clue 7 - The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek. (click read more to continue...)

Term 2, My journey so far with The Mystic Way - 2008:

“I have always felt a strong desire and an unavoidable pull towards understanding human behaviour and for many years have pursued this with a sense of necessity.  A ‘quest for knowledge’ was my statement and what a journey it has been!

I have committed almost 20 years to this journey and tried on so many offerings of personal development from every walk of therapy to studying guru’s, philosophers, trying on new age teachings, motivational seminars, read endless books on personal development and on it goes.  Each of these experiences gave me another way to see the world, to try on new ways of being, to instil that which resonated and to simply let go of that which did not.

What it uncovered were the layers of what no longer served me, however much remained as a cognitive understanding.  My new quest was to find the tools and integrate the learning's.  Largely motivated by my experience working with a Psychotherapist, I wanted to share my experiences with others and yet found myself without a methodology or a mentor to take me to the next level.  Until now!  What the quest has translated into is new found knowledge, insight and understanding – I now feel I take full responsibility for my experiences and own all of my participation in this world.  One of the greatest insights is I now understand that to understand others I first had to understand my own model of the world and my own behaviour.

The tools that are being applied with the teachings of The Mystics Way have strengthened my confidence in being able to proclaim my core belief that we can create an extraordinary life with the right tools at our side.  Creating an extraordinary life is a process and if we get committed and have the right support and understanding of who we truly are; this makes it possible.  We can re-frame and see the world through new eyes and that is my commitment to myself and others and now possible with my new learning’s.

I have been through some major changes due to challenging events in these first six months; moved city, left my heart-felt friends, started a new relationship, opened my heart to which resulted in heartbreak with an abrupt ending, ended a contract and had no income for 5 months at which stage I was struggling to find work and to survive I had to share my home with strangers; add to that I had started this intensive course in human behaviour which has been confronting on many levels.

The good news is through these experiences I had the support of those who were able to hold the space for me to move through what was presenting.  The journey to see the connection to past events I thought I had already let go  have been incredible and very revealing.  It has grounded me, taking me from a somewhat spiritual ego to a realness.

To learn and be taken through a sequence of techniques to rewire my brain was mind-blowing.  Another impactful part that has played is to use the tools on myself to bring me back to center and see things clearly - talk about self-empowerment!

Through this process I uncovered strength I didn't know I had.  I discovered how quickly I can move through adversity.  This has given me another layer of confidence in the work as a therapist, along with a new layer of compassion and understanding and the ability in guiding others to discover who we are and how we choose to lead our lives.

Confucius said; ‘To be a leader you must first know what it is to be human’.  I share this as I can see the parallel with the work of the Soul Centred Psychotherapy: to be a practitioner you must have journeyed as a student of Self; self-discovery, self-love, self-acceptance, self-actualisation and truth."

7 clues to inspire your path to GREATNESS

Clue #1 - Don’t take on what ‘the experts’ say as gospel
On receiving feedback on my paper I was given a ‘reality check’ from the facilitator, something that I recall challenged me in a way I couldn't relate.  I was guided to 'realise' we don’t live an extraordinary life and that language was not fitting for this work.  Hmm.. in those words was the first gift (CLUE no. 1)  as I set out on my own path to find my Greatness, whether that came from my rebellion or my higher-self guidance, it worked a treat.  I could have continued the studies after the first year, however what became apparent to me is the misalignment in continuing a journey that didn’t align to my vision, so I opted out to follow what I believed to be true, and that is, you can live an extraordinary life, in your GREATNESS, and my new business and vision was born!

Clue #2 - Everything we do leads somewhere
I launched my business ‘Human Touch Consulting’ as a result of these insight I gained and based on the new awareness embodied in the words of Confucius; ‘To be a leader you must first know what it is to be human’.  (CLUE no.2) Everything that I formulated for my first business came from the deeper understanding of my self.  Cool right?!

Clue #3 - The ego versus the spiritual ego, same driver different costume!
What I mean by this is often we gain new insight and information and think we ‘know this’ and avoid the pain that is necessary for our healing.   It’s one thing to get something from a cognitive understanding, it’s a completely different thing to embody and integrate the learning into our way of life.  It’s a journey, and a part of the journey is to reveal the parts of self that are hidden from us, the shadow self, the parts we have disowned, and until such time we do this and heal these parts they will continue to act out in our life (often causing conflict within and without - CLUE no.3).

Clue #4 - Without the compass you have no direction
Having the tools in the toolbox is essential!  Being able to apply these tools in any situation and move through adversity to a new way of being, that’s what changes the game!  Learning to be your own Self-Leader! (CLUE no. 4)
(that said having a support network is also part of this as often we can't see what is in the way).

Clue #5 - You get loved up
Through deepening our understanding of self (CLUE #5) we are then able to connect at a deeper level to others.  This creates such richness in all aspects of life, whether than be personally or professionally, as a parent, sibling, partner or friend.

Clue #6 - Get messy
The 12-month journey was essential for me to move through the layers and gain new insight, awareness and transform from within (CLUE #6).  It’s a journey and a commitment that can sometimes seem like life is being turned upside-down, and here's the thing, it often has to happen for us to awaken to our GREATNESS.

Clue #7 - The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek
Facing our greatest fears is where the most incredible gifts await.  Being courageous, embracing the inner-warrior (CLUE #7) is not for the faint-hearted - it is for anyone ready to play a bigger game, creating an extraordinary life, doing what you love and loving you doing it.  And I think we all want a taste of that.  So don’t put off today what awaits, if it’s to be it’s up to me, become a cave dweller and find your treasure!

Every single person's journey leading up to this point has left a trail of clues.
The clue here, it's a journey.  And to take the journey you must courageously step on to the path and keep going, embodying your inner Warrior!

For me the greatest gift through my own journey to GREATNESS (including 2008 otherwise known as the year I walked through hell), is to come to understand it was essential for my path to unfold to create an alignment in doing what I love and loving me doing it. To unpacked the old patterns and habits, allowing me to come to know what was true for me, giving me the courage to follow my dream, live my vision and inspire others to do the same.

Your Greatness awaits....
